Hitchens On The Glenn Beck Pep Rally!

White Fright

Glenn Beck’s rally was large, vague, moist, and undirected—the Waterworld of white self-pity.
By Christopher Hitchens

In a rather curious and confused way, some white people are starting almost to think like a minority, even like a persecuted one. What does it take to believe that Christianity is an endangered religion in America or that the name of Jesus is insufficiently spoken or appreciated? Who wakes up believing that there is no appreciation for our veterans and our armed forces and that without a noisy speech from Sarah Palin, their sacrifice would be scorned? It’s not unfair to say that such grievances are purely and simply imaginary, which in turn leads one to ask what the real ones can be. The clue, surely, is furnished by the remainder of the speeches, which deny racial feeling so monotonously and vehemently as to draw attention.

This video shows the IQ of the people at the rally.

The Silliest Tea Party!

Posted in Tea Party on August 31st, 2010 by Phil – Comments Off

A friend of mine (blueberry) started a new blog – The Silliest Tea Party.  It will have everything you ever wanted to know about the Tea Party.  Go check it out.

Here is a sample….

There’s been a lot of surprise that the “Restoring America” rally wasn’t political. It resembled an evangelical rally, and was seemingly focused on religion instead of politics. Many people have been dismissive of the rally because they think that Beck has somehow changed course. This isn’t necessarily true.

In my last post, I said that religion, language, race, and the nation all start to blur at the edges and become one thing (at least, within a nationalist movement). For devotees, a religious rally is just as political as a voter’s pamphlet.

Blueberry has a lot to say and it’s good stuff.  There may be some surprises coming up – so stay tuned.

The Billionaires Bankrolling the Tea Party

Posted in Uncategorized on August 30th, 2010 by Phil – Comments Off

Please read the full artical in the New York Times.

There’s just one element missing from these snapshots of America’s ostensibly spontaneous and leaderless populist uprising: the sugar daddies who are bankrolling it, and have been doing so since well before the “death panel” warm-up acts of last summer. Three heavy hitters rule. You’ve heard of one of them, Rupert Murdoch. The other two, the brothers David and Charles Koch, are even richer, with a combined wealth exceeded only by that of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett among Americans. But even those carrying the Kochs’ banner may not know who these brothers are.

This is stuff you need to know.  And you need to share it.  After you read the full story in the New York Times (link above) you need to read this story in the New Yorker.  The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama.

Many of the ideas propounded in the 1980 campaign presaged the Tea Party movement. Ed Clark told The Nation that libertarians were getting ready to stage “a very big tea party,” because people were “sick to death” of taxes. The Libertarian Party platform called for the abolition of the F.B.I. and the C.I.A., as well as of federal regulatory agencies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Energy. The Party wanted to end Social Security, minimum-wage laws, gun control, and all personal and corporate income taxes; it proposed the legalization of prostitution, recreational drugs, and suicide. Government should be reduced to only one function: the protection of individual rights. William F. Buckley, Jr., a more traditional conservative, called the movement “Anarcho-Totalitarianism.”

Here is another sample for the New Yorker.

fter the 1980 election, Charles and David Koch receded from the public arena. But they poured more than a hundred million dollars into dozens of seemingly independent organizations. Tax records indicate that in 2008 the three main Koch family foundations gave money to thirty-four political and policy organizations, three of which they founded, and several of which they direct. The Kochs and their company have given additional millions to political campaigns, advocacy groups, and lobbyists. The family’s subterranean financial role has fuelled suspicion on the left; Lee Fang, of the liberal blog ThinkProgress, has called the Kochs “the billionaires behind the hate.”

Only the Kochs know precisely how much they have spent on politics. Public tax records show that between 1998 and 2008 the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation spent more than forty-eight million dollars. The Claude R. Lambe Charitable Foundation, which is controlled by Charles Koch and his wife, along with two company employees and an accountant, spent more than twenty-eight million. The David H. Koch Charitable Foundation spent more than a hundred and twenty million. Meanwhile, since 1998 Koch Industries has spent more than fifty million dollars on lobbying. Separately, the company’s political-action committee, KochPAC, has donated some eight million dollars to political campaigns, more than eighty per cent of it to Republicans. So far in 2010, Koch Industries leads all other energy companies in political contributions, as it has since 2006. In addition, during the past dozen years the Kochs and other family members have personally spent more than two million dollars on political contributions. In the second quarter of 2010, David Koch was the biggest individual contributor to the Republican Governors Association, with a million-dollar donation. Other gifts by the Kochs may be untraceable; federal tax law permits anonymous personal donations to politically active nonprofit groups.

‘Ghost train’ hunter killed by train – Darwin Award?

Posted in Uncategorized on August 30th, 2010 by Phil – 1 Comment

This is very sad.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, on the 119th anniversary of the Bostian Bridge train tragedy and at about the same time, between 10 and 12 ghost hunters were on that approximately 300-foot long span.

They were hoping to hear the sounds of the crash, and perhaps see something.

Instead, a real Norfolk-Southern train — three engines and one car — turned the corner as it headed east to Statesville, about 35 miles north of Charlotte, authorities said.

The terrified “amateur ghost watchers” ran away, back toward Statesville, trying to cover the nearly 150 feet to safety, said Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Darren Campbell.

All but two made it.

They found a train alright!

More teens becoming ‘fake’ Christians

Posted in religion on August 29th, 2010 by Phil – Comments Off

This story from CNN cracked me up.

If you’re the parent of a Christian teenager, Kenda Creasy Dean has this warning:   Your child is following a “mutant” form of Christianity, and you may be responsible.

Huh?  Mutant christianity?  It’s all mutant.  Every form of christianity thinks it is the right one and none of them are like the first christians from around 200 CE.  The reason christianity has spread so will is that is DOES mutate.  You don’t like what you hear every Sunday – change to a new variant of the christian virus.  There are eight main branches and over 30,000 different forms around the world.  Here are the eight largest branches:

bullet Roman Catholicism,
bullet Eastern Orthodoxy,
bullet Oriental Orthodox and Assyrian Churches,
bullet Protestantism
bullet Restorationists
bullet Anglican Communion
bullet Pentecostals
bullet Others

However, Kenda Creasy Dean (from the CNN quote above) appears to be clueless of this information.

Dean says more American teenagers are embracing what she calls “moralistic therapeutic deism.” Translation: It’s a watered-down faith that portrays God as a “divine therapist” whose chief goal is to boost people’s self-esteem.

and…

this “imposter” faith is one reason teenagers abandon churches.

NO!  People are leaving churches in record numbers because they have access to information.  When I was a kid and had questions – you asked your parents.  Today you type your question into Google.  You may not get the best and most accurate information but, it won’t take long to figure out that your religion is a pile of shit.

Dean was upset because she says that most teens don’t really understand their religion.  DUH! who does?  Really!

I will explain it….

This all powerful being made the people but he made them bad and they ate some fruit.

He kicked them out of his “Garden”.

The reproduced until they covered the earth.

gOd got pissed and drowned all but a few.

gOd got pissed again and made them all speak different languages.

gOd got pissed at his favorite people and made them slaves.

etc, etc, etc…

but then…..

He raped some young woman and she gave birth to him.  He then implemented his master 30 year plan to torture and kill himself as a sacrifice to himself so he could be with himself forever.  Oh and now you can be forgiven – but only if you kiss his ass forever.

Sounds Great!  Maybe the world will become a better place as more and more teens run away from this psychosis.

Glenn Beck Loves Glenn Beck And You Can Too

Posted in Idiots on August 29th, 2010 by Phil – 2 Comments

The only thing Glenn Beck loves more than money is Glenn Beck.  Here are some samples from Media Matters

Beck introduced a Beck-sanctioned clergy group that he claimed represented “180 million people,” repeatedly associated himself with Martin Luther King Jr., made outlandish claims about the impact of the events, and was praised as “one of America’s most trusted and honored citizens.”

Do you think Glenn Beck is one of the most trusted and honored citizens?  Now Beck claims that he has created a group of clergy that he controls.

The Black Robe Regiment is back again today. These 240 men and women of all faiths are standing here today. … These 240 men and women from all faiths represent thousands of clergy that we couldn’t fit into this area that are amongst you now — thousands that have come here to the Mall to stand with America and God. And those thousands that are here represent 180 million people.

The “Black Robe Regiment”?  Whoa…. that sounds kinda scary.  Beck then goes on to compare himself to Martin Luther King.

I can relate to Martin Luther King probably the most because we haven’t carved him in marble yet.

and…

As Martin Luther King said, ‘I don’t know if I’ll be there when we reach the promised land, I don’t know how long it’s going to take, but we are going to reach the promised land, or at least the edges of the Promised Land.’

This man is delusional and so are his guests.  Rev C.L. Jackson said this about Beck.

God brought us here through this bright young — I call him — servant of God, son of God, Glenn Beck. … God sent his son to this Earth so that we could all gather. And I think that’s the dream and the vision of Glenn Beck.

I can hardly wait to see all of the good video gold on The Daily Show.

The Glenn Beck – Martin Luther King Chalkboard

Posted in Idiots on August 29th, 2010 by Phil – 1 Comment

Saturday Glenn Beck used gOd and Martin Luther King to lift himself to a level equal with jesus.  It is not an accident that he gave his speech at the same date and location as Martin Luther King.  But let the record show that according to Glenn Beck himself, Martin Luther King is evil.  The image below uses 45 actual links previously made by Glenn Beck to show how evil Martin Luther King is.

However, when he needs MLK’s name Glenn Beck turns on a dime and uses it to say how great Glenn Beck is.  Glenn Beck is a Maniacal egomaniac with delusions of grandeur.  I am afraid that he will take many people on his journey of psychosis.  I have said it before – Glenn Beck is the most dangerous man in America.
