WOW! This Sounds Worse Than jesus Camp – Beware of Christians

via Beware of Christians.

Four college students leave their routine Christian lives in the U.S. in a quest to find what it really means to be a follower of Jesus.

How does one do that you ask?  I guess the same way you go on a quest to learn about the easter bunny or Hercules.

Alex, Matt, Michael, and Will have grown up as Bible-believing Christians who did all the right things. As they’ve grown older, they’ve realized that the Jesus in the Bible doesn’t exactly look like the healthy, wealthy American Jesus they’ve been trained to know and love.

Trained = Indoctrinated.  Wait, what?  jesus wasn’t wealthy?

Their journey across Europe, often a comedy of errors, includes a lost passport, an encounter with an Austrian pop star, a surprise discovery of a nude beach, and a romantic postcard entanglement. More importantly, the four guys capture real, honest discussions about what it means to follow Jesus.

Let’s see…. for college dudes that think jesus is real traveling Europe and some stupid shit happens – I’m stunned.  Maybe they should have called it Dumb and Dumber and More Dumber and christian.

Watch the trailer below if you dare.  You will not be able to get the 90 seconds of your life back.

You need to see this movie.

“Raise your hand if you think that God can do anything!”

Pastor Becky Fischer throws her arm into the air as an example while darting her eyes back and forth over the children in the audience. She yells in a fake high-pitched voice like a sleazy, overly animated kid’s show host and waits for them to imitate her answer. In one aisle a mother lifts the arm of her disinterested son, no more than 8 years old.

Jesus Camp is a 2006 American documentary film directed by Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing about a charismatic Christian summer camp, where children spend their summers learning and practicing their prophetic gifts and being taught that they can “take back America for Christ.”According to the distributor, it “doesn’t come with any prepackaged point of view” and tries to be “an honest and impartial depiction of one faction of the evangelical Christian community”.

Jesus Camp debuted at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, and was sold by A&E Indie Films to Magnolia Pictures. Nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 79th Academy Awards,[3] the film was met with controversy that led to the closure of the camp.

Here is a little sample.

The Ledge!

A new movie writen and directed by Matthew Chapman.

Matthew Chapman is a journalist, screenwriter, and director. His latest film, “The Ledge,” which he wrote and directed stars Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Terence Howard, and Patrick Wilson. It was shot in Louisiana in spring 2010 and was accepted into the main (U.S. Dramatic) competition at Sundance 2011. Bought by IFC, it will have its theatrical release in the U.S. in early summer. The film deals with an intellectual, personal, and ultimately fatal feud between an atheist and an evangelical Christian.

This was shown at the 2011 American Atheist Convention.  Sadly, I did not see it – I needed the sleep.
