Woman “Imprisoned” On Scientology Cruise Ship For 12 Years

…Valeska Paris says she was held against her will aboard the Scientology cruise ship “Freewinds” for more than a decade. During her stay on the vessel, she alleges, she was forced into hard labor and never allowed to leave the ship without an escort.

Here is the video from ABC news.

Paris claims that Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige sent her to the ship when she was 18 in order to prevent her family from pulling her out of the organization.

A cult with the power to ruin people’s lives.

Paris was born into a Scientology family, but her mother quit the group after her husband committed suicide, blaming Scientology for coercing him out of a self-made personal fortune of more than a million dollars.

Damn, I gotta start a church.

Instead of the promised two week stay, Paris found herself unable to leave the ship without an official Scientology escort and was often forced into hard labor on the lower levels of the ship for stretches as long as two full days. “It’s hot, it’s extremely loud, it’s smelly, it’s not nice. I was sent down there at first for 48 hours straight on almost no sleep and I had to work by myself,” she said.

So, why didn’t Paris simply escape from the ship when it would take port? The Freewinds has a relatively small sailing route, traveling throughout the Caribbean and occasionally docking at small islands.

“I did not want to be there, I made it clear I did not want to be there and that was considered bad ethics, meaning it was considered not right,” she said. “They take your passport when you go on the ship and you’re in the middle of an island. So it’s a bit hard [to escape] and by that time I was 18, I’d been in Scientology my whole life, it’s not like I knew how to escape,” she said.

Australia May Be About To Bankrupt Scientology

Posted in Scientology the cult on September 7th, 2011 by Phil – 1 Comment

Via The Village Voice.

Over the weekend, Melbourne’s Herald Sun reportedthat the Australian government may be about to hand down a decision that will likely bankrupt Scientology in that country.

The church there has been under heavy attack in recent years, led mainly by an independent federal senator, Adelaide’s Nick Xenophon, who has pushed for government investigations of Scientology after being presented with evidence of the church’s abuse of staff.

And now, the Herald Sun reports, the country’s “workplace watchdog” will soon release a report after an 18-month investigation into the way that Scientology’s workers, particularly those in the hardcore Sea Org, are paid far less than minimum wage.

Are you listening America?

Scientology could be forced to pay millions of dollars in back pay, as well as taxes on that pay, and raise every worker to minimum wage into the future. Former chief Scientology spokesman, Mike Rinder, who himself is from Australia, says such a decision will immediately bankrupt the church there.

Whoo hoo.  Now tax the bastards!

“It will be an utter disaster, worse than losing tax-exempt status,” he says. (The Australian government has also been reviewing Scientology’s tax exempt status, and a decision on that could come soon as well.

If Scientology were hit with a bill for millions in back pay, Rinder says, they could draw from American reserves to pay it off. “They have the money to do it, but what will happen is, everybody from this point forward will have to be paid, and they cannot do that,” he says.

That big sucking sound is their money flying over to Australia.  Thank you Australia!

“Too much money goes to international management, and they’re buying buildings, so they can’t use that money for staff. Everything else is more important. And if that happens in Australia. I promise you that will only be the first. The next place that will follow will be Europe. And then ultimately the US will catch up. Some agency in America will grow a pair and actually do something,” Rinder added.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Rinder is referring to the real estate buying spree Scientology has been on in the last few years, even though numerous sources show that membership in the organization is falling, and by some estimates totals only about 40,000 people around the world. Despite that, parishioners in America are being pressured to raise money for new facilities, as we saw recently in a rather remarkable video.

Whoa….. Watch this and enjoy!

Here is a news story that covers the church skipping out on tax in the UK!

This is international money laundering.  They are gangsters and need to be shut down.

Russian Court Bans Scientology Literature

via the Washington Post.

A court in a Moscow suburb has banned works by the founder of the Church of Scientology, officials said Thursday.

The Shchyolkovo court ruled that “What is Scientology?” and other books by L. Ron Hubbard “contain calls for extremist activities,” the Prosecutor General’s office said in a statement.

I’m glad we don’t do this here but, it is funny!  It is better to laugh at Lord Xenu!

Hubbard, a science fiction writer, founded the Los Angeles-based Church of Scientology in 1954. It teaches that technology can expand the mind and help solve problems.

Hey… what about the aliens trapped in your body?

The group claims 10 million members around the world, including film stars Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

Oh yeah… Tom Cruise…..

New Scientology Tell All Book

The Scientology Expose We've Been Waiting ForFrom Gawker.

New Yorker staff writer and Looming Tower author Lawrence Wright is writing what his agent calls “the most profound reckoning to date” with Scientology, told through the eyes of director and apostate Paul Haggis. This should be good.

I agree!  I can’t wait for these guys to get audited.  This evil cult needs to be shut down.

Haggis spent 35 years as a Scientologist before angrily and publicly ditching the cult in 2009 after he became convinced that leader David Miscavige is a violent nut.

Many people have claimed that David Miscavige hits people and gives a real beat down if they get out of line.

Wright is a meticulous and muscular reporter, so the two men collaborating to tell the story of Scientology from the inside will be a very big deal. The book, which doesn’t have a publisher yet, will be called The Heretic of Hollywood: Paul Haggis vs.The Church of Scientologyand will explore both founder L. Ron Hubbard’s life and Haggis’ personal investigation into Miscavige’s violence, the enslavement of “Sea Org” volunteers, and forced abortions for church workers, according to a catalog from Wright’s agent Andrew Wylie [pdf] that was pointed out to us by a tipster.

I can hardly wait!

John Travolta And Wife Kelly Preston Plan For Silent Birth

Posted in Scientology the cult on November 16th, 2010 by Phil – 3 Comments

That’s right silent birth.  In the wacky world of scientology you have to be quiet when you have a baby.

…when the little boy does arrive, Scientology will play a major role. John flew back to the USA from Australia on Sunday to make preparations for their new arrival, which will include a controversial “silent” Scientology birth.

It’s not controversial – It’s stupid.  It is just some more bullshit that LRH (L. Ron Hubbard) made up.  Just like the whole Zenu story.

“The couple will follow the church’s guidelines during delivery,” a family insider tells me. “No music, no talking and no screaming will be allowed during the pains of labor. Also their new son cannot be prodded for medical tests or spoken to for the first seven days of his life. You don’t want to do anything that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.”

I know something that will haunt that poor child, being born to a member of the cult of scientology.

Preston told Redbook magazine a few years ago that she tried to follow the church’s guidelines during the birth of daughter Ella Bleu, but after 13 long hours of labor, she told her husband, “Throw me in the car. I want an epidural!” However, due to traffic, there was not enough time to get Kelly to the hospital.

“This time around, Kelly is determined to follow her church’s guidelines,” an insider tells me. “Everyone who will be present at the birth has been given clear instructions to not make a sound.”

Well I hope it all works out.  I was hoping that they learned not to follow the rules of scientology after the tragic and unnecessary death of their son.
