I understand what you mean and why you are making some fun out of it :)

But I also think he has all the right to think that atheists or believers from other religions may be saved by God or any other deity that he believes in. I think that might even be a step on the right direction since it means going in the opposite direction of "there is no salvation out of our church".

I don't feel the need to be saved, since I do not believe in any religion, but since I think the Pope is just a regular human being who will die and "that is it" - no soul or other mystical stuff - he also has the right to believe that when one dies, one has a soul that might be saved.

The government is using tax dollars to defray the cost of churches. Isn’t this purchase a personal choice?

I remember reading this in detail many years ago. A lot of violence to suppress the distribution of the Bible. This was connected to the Reformation too. It's odd that the same religious people that attack free thought originally promoted it.

I think of NLP much as I do of Chiropracty. They do actually have some functional techniques at the core. I will happily go to a chiropractor when I have misaligned vertebrae, and I've used some of the simpler NLP techniques to change the way I think about things. But there does seem to be a tremendous amount of woo piled on top of the tiny core of real accomplishments that poison the well. It would be nice if there were an easy way to pry them apart and flush the dross, leaving something useful behind. Rationality is a good tool, but depressingly few people know how to use it.

When I finished this post I was not gong to publish it. As I found the photo, I noticed Smart was pretty and I wondered if I was promoting her because she was pretty rather than finding some more greater story of triumph? I did it anyway as the reality is that in her role as advocate looks count. It sucks but it's true. For men as well. Short dumpy guys don't succeed as well but women are the gender considered by many, especially conservatives, to be decorative objects.

As a non-believer, back in those bad old drNone days, when prices went up, talk about "impotent rage." But those crappy days are gone. Since having surrendered my life to the Lord, every day is new and fresh - even when it's pouring and traffic is backlogged., and the gas tank and pocketbook is low. Yep, it's about attitude and self-centered ness is the pits
