To the person who stated that us Canadians are stupid because the government has made lying on the “airwaves” illegal. The smart people realize that this is total crap. We realize that our “democracy” and “freedom”, are used to create the illusion that we aren’t being oppressed by a system that gives “freedom from” and not “freedom to”. Freedom from, means they allow certain civil rights, but restrict our right to be free to think critically. The basic fact is, we are aware that banning lies from the media, is in it’s self a lie. But most of us know this, unlike the USA, whose citizens civil rights are being taken from them, since 911. Yes, “homeland security” is important, but at what cost?

FOX News by consent posts a disclaimer. I first saw it over the left shoulder of that morning blonde news anchor that quit a while back. It says “Information presented is not based on fact or historical data.” Reagan gutted the FCC laws and truth in advertising was no longer enforced. Look up “puffery.” It is a legal term that pretty much says you can lie after you have told your audience you are going to do so. That’s why you hear the words “I think, might, could, maybe” etc heard on FOX News so much. They will post “Breaking News” and present it as a question. They are tabloid TV and have mastered the monetizing of speculative gossip. I don’t think, I know most of what is on FOX News is bullcrap and haven’t watched it for years now. But the other competing networks are not a lot better. I no longer watch any news program that breaks for commercial advertising.

I find it sad that the people of Canada are not intelligent enough to be able THINK for themselves and have to have the GOVERNMENT do it for them.. Let me ask do you have to ask the government when to EAT, WAKE UP, GO TO BED, etc.. ?? Here’s a clue IF you THINK your NOT getting the TRUTH .. CHANGE THE CHANNEL that is WHY they put those buttons on the remote..
WHY do you have to have your GOVERNMENT decide what is truth and what is NOT..?? Here in the U.S.A. we have those who are unable to THINK for themselves we call them PROGRESSIVES.. they wait for the GOVERNMENT to tell them what to THINK .. have to say there are only 20% of the populace who are PROGRESSIVES and my guess if given an IQ test they would score 65 .. It is MSM (MAIN STREAM MEDIA) in the USA who are the ones telling lies IF by no other reason their OMISSION of all the FACTS.. I read years ago that England and Canada like to control their populace by ONLY giving them GOOD news.. cause they don’t think your smart enough to be told the facts.. have to ask.. are you allowed to get foreign news via the internet?? or do they CONTROL that too?? Do your politicians ever lie to you?? are they on the telly when they do??? would that NOT be against the law or do you just like being lied to so it’s ok they don’t tell you truth..Have to ask since you DON’T get FOX in CANADA .. how do you know they lie??? DID your government tell you?? GUESS if your taking their side they are right your NOT smart enough to have the truth…

I assume you don’t live in the USA. Around 40 -50 of the US population thinks that FOX news is real news and that it is the one true voice of truth in an America that has turned away from its founding as a christian nation. It makes me very sad….

Most countries who want to be taken serious already have veracity and provenance mandates in their broadcast news services (radio & TV) – but let’s not confuse the issue or muddy the waters: Fox doesn’t deliver a ‘news’ service – certainly not as the rest of the free world understands the term; rather, it is blatantly and merely opinion, first and last. And it further dilutes its credibility by adding the tag-line ‘Fair & Balanced’ – apparently irony is a stranger to Fox.

Ah, so, opinion over facts. Likely for those who still think it is clever to uses hack phrases like “Faux News,” then titter away like imbeciles. Free press means that – free to irritate the bejeezus out of people who would use the power of the state to suppress facts and opinions they do not approve. Tough crap. Oh, by the way, check out Shaw’s Star Choice in Canada, channel 503. Fox has been on there for years and The Sun channel is soon to arrive, I hear, even down here.
