Iowa Republicans Want To Limit Divorce

In their war on big government 7 Iowa Republicans want to give the government more power over your life.
The new bill would prohibit parents with children under 18 years old from getting what’s called “no fault” divorces, a divorce that doesn’t require any evidence of wrongdoing from either party. Essentially, it would eliminate the classic “irreconcilable differences” excuse.
You can’t stand each other – tough! Rep Tedd Gassman (Right – no I did not make up the name!) wants you to stay together!
Under the new bill, divorces would only be granted if one parent was guilty of adultery, was sent to prison, was physically or sexually abusive, or if one had abandoned the family for over a year.
So, to get out of your marriage you have to go fuck someone. Ha! Problem solved. Maybe you could just say that you did or, will there be an adultery test? Mr. Gassman explains why….
“My attempt with this bill is to keep families together to keep moms and dad in the same homes with their children and to have those children raised by a mom and a dad…”
What a sweet little fantasy world Mr. Gassman lives in. Two people who can’t stand each other being forced to stay together and stay in the same home (will that part of the law?) – what could go wrong with that.
Apparently, he wants to promote this law because his own daughter just got divorced and he is worried about his granddaughter turning into some kind of sex crazed slut!
“There’s a 16-year-old girl in this whole mix now. Guess what? What are the possibilities of her being more promiscuous?”
“What are the possibilities of all these other things surrounding her life that a 16-year-old girl, with hormones raging, can get herself into?”
I’m sure there are some kids that go “wild” after their parents divorce but, some kids have problems with two parents. However, forcing the adults to stay together is not likely to help and it is just wrong!

How absurd. My ex and I were married for twenty three years and had four children. For most of our time together he lived somewhere else five days a week and when he was home he neglected the children so regularly I was forced to give up my part time job and take care of them. It angered me that I was sentenced to take classes out of town on how to make this divorce less of a burden on our children when it was not an issue for them.
What a dipshit. Get the fuck out of my bedrooms you conservative moron
this can easily slip into child abuse :S forcing two parents that don’t love each other anymore to remain in the marriage will end up showing really bad examples to kids…it will teach them to be contempt with suffering and just to keep on an unhappy relationship. the amounts of abuse in relationships between teens aren’t already enough? do we really have to teach them to just bear it?
Actually this make a lot of sense. IN Iowa they argued that gay marriage was destroying traditional marriage. I think someone finally woke up and said “No, divorce is destroying traditional marriage.”
Peer reviewed scientific research suggests (not that Mr Gassman would be interested) that children raised in highly stressful family environments are at a high risk of developing moderate to severe behavioural and psychological problems. But who really cares about that? What’s important is that Mr Gassman’s fascist unqualified opinions be validated.
