The Swiss central bank introduced the peg in September 2011 in response to investors buying up massive amounts of the Swiss franc as a safer foreign exchange alternative to the euro or the dollar.
In a statement Thursday, the SNB said the franc was now out of the period of “exceptional overvaluation” during which the minimum exchange rate had been introduced.
“The euro has depreciated considerably against the US dollar and this, in turn, has caused the Swiss franc to weaken against the U.S. dollar. In these circumstances, the SNB concluded that enforcing and maintaining the minimum exchange rate for the Swiss franc against the euro is no longer justified,” the statement said.
Guests…. Muhammad and Mya members of Ex-Muslims of North America
We represent a community of Ex-Muslims (murtids) of various ethnic origins and nationalities that are currently residing in North America. We are largely composed of smaller regional groups, who have a great degree of structural autonomy. The regional groups are united organizationally as the Ex-Muslims of North America (EXMNA).
There are Ex-Muslims in all disciplines and geographies of the world. Due to the risk inherent in declaring apostasy, the majority has kept silent and are isolated. We aim to change that.
We here at EXMNA are dedicated to gathering, empowering, and broadcasting the voices of Ex-Muslims. We consider it our duty to highlight the gems of apostate intellectual discourse to the best of our ability. For this reason we work on bringing together here individual Ex-Muslim bloggers to form an apostate blogging community. Leaving Islam is not a simple or monolithic process. We aim to provide a platform for a wide variety of apostates’ viewpoints in order to help our readers gain a nuanced understanding of the issues around leaving Islam.
