U of I Quad Day 2012
Posted by Phil Ferguson on August 27th, 2012 – 1 Comment – Posted in UncategorizedToday, I spent 4 hours in the baking sun trying to save the world. That’s right – Quad Day!
It is one of my greatest joys to work with the students of the University of Illinois and the worlds best secular student group ISSA (Illini Secular Student Alliance). Here is their table….
The university does not know where to put secular students so, they put them right in the middle of the religion section. I had several wonderful talks with religious students and two guys from a local church came and preyed on me. They put their hands on my shoulders (they did ask first) and said some magic words to their lord (not the FSM – some other guy) and bam! I was blessed.
Sadly, one of the conversations did not go well. A gentleman said he could prove that jesus is real but he had no evidence. After I pointed out that feelings are not evidence he got mad and said I was rude. It was very odd!
In this photo below, I am handing out fliers for the first meeting of the year. The goal is to get as many student as possible to sign up and I think we got over 200.

Great work, proud of you.
